Cristiano Ronaldo: the Football Hero
Introduction:
Known commonly as Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, a name is the self-expression of itself in the football world. Born on February 5, 1985, he hails from Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, and built up a career to be remembered as legend, breaking many records and achieving unthinkable success both at club and international levels.
Early Career:
He was from Andorinha, a local club in Madeira, where Ronaldo was to eventually leave for Nacional before landing a youth deal with Sporting CP. He would go on to capture the attention of Manchester United and in 2003 join the English side on a then record transfer fee of £12.24 million. Within the first season of playing, he helped the side to the FA Cup. Subsequent years were more rewarding, helping the team secure three successive Premier League titles.
Ascent to Stardom
Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid back in 2009 with a then-world-record price tag of €94 million. He was no less spectacular for the club while playing, becoming the first record goalscorer for that team with 311 while making 292 appearances in total. Meanwhile, during his sojourn, he not only won four titles of Champions League but also received Ballon d'Or-an award five times.
